Two children were found decapitated at their home during the night from Monday to Tuesday in Sainte-Rose (Basse Terre), in Guadeloupe, AFP learned from the Pointe-à-Pitre Prosecutor's Office, confirming information from Radio Caraibes International. One was a year old and the second was four years old. According to a source close to the case, it was their father who alerted the police around 3:30 a.m. after discovering the bodies of his two children.

Found and arrested a little later, their mother was initially placed in police custody then released for psychiatric incompatibility and hospitalized, according to the same source. Aged around forty, the latter made incoherent comments and was not able to clearly explain the reasons for her action, it was further clarified.

In a state of shock, the father was taken care of by emergency services, according to RCI Guadeloupe (Radio Caraibes International).

An investigation for “murder by ascendant of minors under 15 years old” was opened and entrusted to the research brigade of the Pointe-à-Pitre gendarmerie, according to Caroline Calbot, prosecutor of Pointe-à-Pitre.
