Develop a team spirit within government Is it possible ? Michel Barnier believes in it. And to do this, the head of government brought together his ministers in Matignon, this Monday, November 4, for a seminar.
But will this be enough for a group in which the lack of cohesion and unity are cruelly felt in the National Assembly? Because this Monday, the revenue part of the Social Security budget should be rejected. The fate of the budget should be the same. These are therefore 49-3 which are looming on the horizon for the government.
In opposition, it's the frustration that prevails. “But as millions of French people might feel if they had a job in which they worked hours and hours so that in the end, the boss said 'that's very good, we throw away the copy and I will do what I I want'”, assures Kévin Mauvieux.
The National Rally deputy runs between the hemicycle, where the Social Security budget is discussed, and the finance committee, where the State budget is examined. “Indeed, the long days […] pour voting on amendments that will not be accepted is frustrating“, he whispers.
“Their budget is already made”
On the other side of the political spectrum, the feeling is the same. “But the question is what to do,” growls Sandrine Rousseau, environmentalist MP. From frustration to anger, the elected official accuses the government of dragging out the debates and of having already written the text that Michel Barnier would move to 49.3.
“I think they already have their budget in reality and that all this is just artifice”, she assures. “The parliamentary debate is used as a distraction for the people.”
This fed up is even felt in the presidential group. “What we are doing is useless,” notes one of the rare Macronist deputies present on the benches of the National Assembly. “It looks like a think tank at best, and nonsense at worst”. It remains to be seen whether the seminar desired by Michel Barnier will be enough.
