Jean-Vianney Du Parc officially takes over as head of the Modane PGHM

This Monday, November 4, the official change of command ceremony of the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM) of Modane. This ceremony marks the official taking up of duties of Lieutenant Jean-Vianney Du Parc, appointed in July 2024, succeeding squadron leader Corentin Hassmann.

Originally from , Jean-Vianney Du Parc, 25, is a young officer who graduated from a literary preparatory class, trained at Saint-Cyr and holds a double degree in political science. Enthusiastic about taking on this position, he considers it “particularly exciting”.

Passionate about mountain sports, Lieutenant Du Parc practices various activities, including mountaineering, ski touring, ice climbing, canyoning, paragliding and road cycling. Since taking up his post in July, he has notably participated in significant interventions, such as the rescue of a person in distress, which mobilized significant human and technical resources in collaboration with the Savoie gendarmerie.

Proud to lead this unit, Jean-Vianney Du Parc relies on the experience of his 12 rescuers, non-commissioned officers and volunteer assistants, to carry out his missions.
