First series of four, here are the best or most useful extensions on Safari, Apple’s in-house browser.

Adding an extension is simple: after downloading it from the Mac App Store, go to the Safari menu, click Preferences…, then go to the Extensions tab, then check the box related to the extension. ‘extension.

Antidote Connector

The Antidote Connector allows you to access works (dictionary, synonyms, guides) from your Safari browser.

Once integrated, select text, a web email for example to check with the proofreader, or a word to look up in the dictionary, then click on the Antidote icon near the address bar. You will get the desired function.

To get it, search for Antidote Connector in the Mac App Store app on your Mac.

With Pocket, you just click the “Save to Pocket” button, and the link is saved to your account so you can easily view it later. It works on multiple devices and you can mark and label items to keep everything organized.

The only small setback is that you have to register for the Pocket service which is free of charge.

DuckDuckGo Privacy for Safari

The DuckDuckGo private search engine is installed on all my browsers and I only go to Google in the rare cases where the first one is not satisfactory.

DuckDuckGo’s Privacy Dashboard extension eliminates web trackers while Privacy Protection blocks third-party trackers in private browsing.

Disconnect, the anti-tracker

Disconnect is an application that provides users with protection against trackers and real-time tracking alerts, statistics dashboard. Disconnect Premium never logs, tracks or collects user’s online activity or personal information.

Please note, the last update was three years ago. As for the virtual private network (VPN) service, don’t get hung up on it, you should always prefer a paid subscription service that protects all your devices.

Finally, only install extensions from trusted sources, like the Mac App Store. Open Safari, do Command comma > Extensions tab > More Extensions (bottom right corner).
