Indeed, it is Ian Somerhalder, our crush for a long time, who confirmed his retirement from acting.
Since last year, the Vampire Diaries star was making increasingly rare appearances and had no active projects, so he could take care of his two young children.
More recently, the 45-year-old actor suggested that he would not return to the spotlight at all: “I think it's in the rearview mirror. It’s true,” he admitted to People.
With his lover Nikki Reed, the mother of their seven-year-old daughter and their eleven-month-old son, he now focuses on family farming businesses, including one that sells food supplements and another whiskey. His passion for this field is such that Ian has produced two documentaries on regenerative agriculture, Kiss the Groundreleased in 2020, and its new sequel, Common Ground.
Despite these production experiences and their time spent in the world of cinema, which could be described as their second passion, the star and his sweetheart now want to move on to something else. Nikki Reed also admitted that she had no intention of becoming an actress again.
“I'm working over 90 hours a week right now,” she told People. “I run a business full-time and just started another one. I don’t see how I can give my energy elsewhere.”

It would seem, however, that there is an exception to this rule, or rather, to this retirement, because Damon's interpreter would have confided that a particular project could bring him out of retirement: “We have recovered the rights to V Warsbut I don’t know how we could make it into a TV series,” he said. This science fiction series originally produced by Netflix featured Ian and Nikki, but it only lasted one season before abruptly ending in 2020.
