It was at the initiative of the municipal seniors council, sponsored by the municipality, that this film, directed and supervised by Frédéric Brassard, was created.

An overview of the town

After a long preparatory work, the shots were able to begin with the use of high-performance equipment and a drone to produce beautiful aerial views. In turn, the vineyards, the shops, the gunsmiths, the Devil's Bridge, the tile works, the Sainte-Catherine chapel, the winegrowers' houses, the Renaissance house, the old inn, the town hall and many others have been reviewed in great detail and with many anecdotes.

“I was able to rely on passionate people who brought me their knowledge very naturally”

Suzanne Pommier, president of the Living Heritage Association, present in several sequences of the film, is delighted. “Making the archives speak, describing the places, explaining the life of the inhabitants at that time was fascinating.” Very comfortable in front of the camera, the former mayor Gérard Laurent showed himself inexhaustible on the armorial of Guillaume Revel or on the 13th century churche century. The history of the Devil's Bridge was retraced with the participation of the municipal youth council who visibly appreciated the sequences produced with a drone.

Éric Lardon, mayor of Saint-Marcellin-en-Forez, was also satisfied with the result: “Leaving a trace that is not elitist, but on the contrary accessible to all, is important and particularly for school children because it is history. of their village which is told”.

The final word went to director Frédéric Brassard: “Making a film about a town whose history we don't know was no easy feat. Fortunately, I was able to rely on passionate people who very naturally brought to me their knowledge and the desire to faithfully portray the municipal heritage.”

This one hour and fifteen minute documentary film was presented at the Aristide Briand Hall in front of a large audience. He will now leave an indelible mark on the history of Saint Marcellin-en-Forez.
