Brilliant in the first period, notably being carried by an inspired left lane, LOSC gradually fell back until being punished at the end of the match by OL (1-1). Discover our tops and flops after this meeting counting for the 10th day of Ligue 1.
The best
A powerful left flank
Bruno Genesio seems to have found his pair on the left side with Osame Sahraoui and Gabriel Gudmundsson. Although complementary, the two players continued to combine, creating an imbalance in the Lyon defense. Indeed, Maitland-Niles and Cherki often seemed overwhelmed in the face of the Swede's incessant climbs, mainly playing on his speed, as evidenced by his acceleration then his cross in the 13th minute for Thomas Meunier, who hit the bar. Sahraoui, for his part, was able to show off his technique, notably with a sumptuous little bridge on Caleta-Car, followed by a roulette eliminating three opponents in the 23rd minute. Less visible during the second half, the two Lille players nevertheless had a good match defensively.
Le flop
A second soporific period
After a completely controlled first half, LOSC collapsed in the second half, completely leaving the ball to the Lyonnais. Much too low on the pitch, all grouped together in their own half, Genesio's men suffered from the Lyon waves, led by Malick Fofana (scorer in the 90+1') and Ryan Cherki (almost scored in the 70'). However, the Northerners were not far from leaving with the three points thanks to Maitland-Niles' disallowed goal in the 75th minute, but Fofana logically ended up equalizing in the 90+1'. For statistics, Les Gones had only hit three times on goal in the first half without ever hitting the target, while in the second half, Pierre Sage's men had eleven shots on goal, including three shots on target. An approach which was undoubtedly not the right one.
