The Nîmes Matéo Grégoire-Charmasson is the hope of French swimming. At 16, he had only one goal: to qualify for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. To achieve this, he recently joined the group of Philippe Lucas, the famous French swimming coach.
“I started swimming when I was five to learn how to swim. Honestly, I didn't like this sport, I couldn't even put my head under the water”remembers Matéo. The young Nîmes was more attracted to the oval ball, a passion that he has shared with his father, Toulouse, since childhood.
“Rugby is my favorite sport, even more than swimming”he says. After stopping swimming lessons for a year, he will start again to be comfortable in the water and learn to swim better. The swimming instructor who supervises him will advise him to register with the Nautic Club Nîmes. He has already spotted his potential.
The young sportsman therefore joined the Nautic Club Nîmes at the age of nine. He will catch the eye of his coaches who will push him to progress. “Very quickly, I was able to join a group that was training to participate in competitions. …
