Civil Defense announced that it had brought the fire which broke out in the Roumieh forest under control during the night from Thursday to Friday.
In a press release published Friday, Civil Defense indicated that its members were dispatched to the scene at the time of the fire and made the necessary efforts to prevent it from spreading. She also reported on data collected from surveillance cameras which detected the presence of a car which was parked at the scene of the incident and which left once the fire broke out.
It should be noted that the recent fires ravaging certain regions of Lebanon are causing great concern. Several forested and agricultural areas of the country are affected, endangering already fragile ecosystems and threatening the surrounding population. These fires, often of human origin, are deliberately caused for reasons that are still unclear. The Lebanese government and rescue forces are trying to contain these fires with limited resources, while carrying out investigations to identify those responsible for the intentional fires. Residents, for their part, are living with growing anxiety in the face of the flames and the impact of this crisis on their health and living conditions.
