A man was killed by a gunshot to the head on Thursday October 31, in the Tonkin district of Villeurbanne. An investigation has been opened for intentional homicide.
A man died of a gunshot to the head in Tonkin in Villeurbanne, on the evening of Thursday October 31, BFM Lyon learned from a police source, confirming information from Le Progrès.
According to the first account of the events, the police were called to the Tonkin district shortly after 11 p.m. On site, witnesses reported a suspicious gathering of people, including one of the individuals who was allegedly carrying a firearm. An explosion was also heard.
An ongoing investigation
When they arrived on site, at the Boulevard du 11 November 1918, the police discovered an inanimate man on the ground. The victim died of a gunshot to the head.
No arrests have yet been made at this stage. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS).
This murder comes almost a year to the day after a series of shootings in the neighborhood. Since then, two Place Nette operations, in November 2023 and March 2024, had been carried out in the district. According to residents, interviewed by BFM Lyon a few days ago, most of the deal points have since been resettled.
