Beaune – “En route la jeunesse”: a day of integration and learning for young people

For the 2nd consecutive year, the Mission Locale Rurale de Beaune, the Establishment and Service for Assistance through Work (ESAT) of Savigny-lès-Beaune and Mobili Sud 21 have joined forces to offer a joint action intended for young people under 29 years old. The event, entitled “En route la jeunesse”, was held this Tuesday.

The objectives of this day were numerous. First of all, it was about getting to know the ESAT employee population, the different work positions and the organization of working time within the structure. This initiative allowed young people to meet, exchange and become familiar with training and medico-social professions, while combating prejudices linked to disability by promoting exchange and mutual understanding and restoring confidence in mobility.
6 young people from ESAT and 6 young people from the Local Mission were invited to participate in various activities throughout the day. The morning was devoted to visiting the ESAT where they were able to try out license-free cars provided by the Bonhomme de Chenôve garage and attend an intervention by the Saint-Nicolas de Beaune driving school, which offers training in AM license (former BSR (Road Safety Certificate).

The afternoon took place at the Mission Locale with several interactive workshops including a tour of the premises, a presentation of Mobili Sud 21 and testing of the driving simulator, accompanied by a snack preparation workshop (candy skewers and non-alcoholic cocktails) proposed by the young people of the Local Mission. The snack and a blind test, led by the young people of the Local Mission, ended the day in a festive way, an opportunity to take stock of the day.
Sandrine Guillot, disability referent for the Local Mission, underlined the importance of this day of exchange and sharing between young ESAT workers and those monitored by the Local Mission. In all, 12 young people took part in the ESAT visit in the morning. The afternoon at the Local Mission continued with a simulation course (fatigue, alcohol level, or substance consumption), allowing the young people to better understand the effects of these factors on driving. The young people were also able to test a driving simulator. The day concluded with a friendly meeting around the preparation of candy skewers and non-alcoholic cocktails, followed by a snack and a blind test.
