This is an extremely important launch for Citroën: the French brand, which is part of the Stellantis group, presents its new C3, the best-selling car in its history at 5.6 million copies, ahead of the 2CV. This type of car which does not currently exist on the market and which should make it possible to democratize access to electric vehicles. Europe 1 was able to test it on Austrian roads, where the first tests are taking place.

Citroën is attacking the city car market and presents its new C3, inspired by SUVs. Two versions are offered: a thermal one for around 15,000 euros and an electric version, the first manufactured in Europe, in Slovakia, for less than 20,000 euros including the State bonus.

“An everyday car”

At first glance, the C3 has grown by around ten centimeters. Forget rounded shapes, make way for a more cubic design that tends towards the SUV. Once behind the wheel, with a raised driving position, the equipment on board is modern with an easy-to-use touch screen. Don’t expect to see Tesla offering such a price. Citroën has chosen the essential.

“The specifications are to have an affordable car for our customers, but also with all the usual functions with electric windows, whether at the front, at the rear, automatic air conditioning, all the standard equipment that we have on an everyday car”, lists Thierry Blanchard, product manager.

Driving is fluid, pleasant even with an almost rectangular steering wheel. No engine noise obviously, but soundproofing is not always optimal. On the other hand, comfort, a Citroën trademark, is not optional with the famous shock absorbers with hydraulic stops which soften the jolts caused by the road. A car well above a Dacia Spring made in China. Citroën therefore hopes to capitalize on this quickly. The first customers will be delivered in September.
