A 24-year-old man shot dead, third murder in a few weeks in Châteauroux: police reinforcements announced

This new murder committed this Monday, June 3 evening in a sensitive area of ​​the city, could be linked to drug trafficking. It comes around ten days after that of a forty-year-old, and a little over a month after the death of the young Matisse. The prefecture announced this evening the arrival of two police brigades.

Châteauroux is going through a terrible series. A bloody period which raises the question: where will the vicious circle of violence end?

This Monday, June 3, a new murder left the city in mourning: that of a young man, perhaps the victim of a settling of scores linked to drug trafficking. From midday, the various right-wing mayor of the city, Gil Avérous, once again called on the State “to act quickly and strongly to put an end to trafficking.”

“At least fifteen shots”

10 p.m. last night, Saint-Jean district, a sensitive area of ​​the city. According to a testimony collected on site by France 3, the alleged executioners gave their victim no chance, in what looks like an execution:

“A scooter came very quickly, brushing past me. And all of a sudden I heard gunshots. I lay down under a bench. It fired about fifteen times, it wasn’t from the little gun. There were two of them. The driver and the passenger, who took out the gun, it calmed down and then the shooting started again. I heard the bullets whistling. extremely frightened.”

A video on social networks shows a weapon abandoned on the ground, undoubtedly a Kalashnikov. A little further on, a police officer performs cardiac massage. The victim died in the evening as a result of his injuries. The young man was 24 years old and originally from Châteauroux. The prosecution clarified this Tuesday evening that he had been “convicted several times for acts of various nature (attacks on property, attacks on people, traffic disputes, offenses against drug legislation)

Two anti-crime brigades as reinforcements

An investigation was opened by the public prosecutor’s office, entrusted to the Orléans judicial police and which will have to “determine whether these criminal acts are linked to a settling of scores against a background of drug trafficking“, as detailed by Agnès Auboin, the public prosecutor.

This evening, the Indre-et-Loire prefecture announces the arrival of police reinforcements: “Two anti-crime brigades and a canine unit from neighboring departments are deployed from today onwards and daily.” Reinforced control operations will also be carried out in the coming days throughout the Castelroussine metropolitan area.

Young Matisse, a month earlier

In just over a month, three violent deaths have shaken Châteauroux: last week, a man and a woman were indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention. They are suspected of having killed a man with several stab wounds. The victim was already known to the courts, particularly for facts related to narcotics.

A month earlier, it was the young Matisse, 15, who died, stabbed by a young Afghan.

On Facebook, Senator (LR) of Indre Frédérique Gerbaud reacts to this terrible series: “Youth of the victims, logic of cold execution and frequency of this type of tragedy: in the absence of a vigorous reaction which is urgently required, these frightening constants threaten to tip Châteauroux into a logic of terror that we believed still reserved for the “hottest” neighborhoods and lawless areas of metropolises.”
