2% increase in the minimum wage, with an anticipation of two months
The 1is November 2024, the amount of Gross hourly minimum wage is increased to 11.88 eurosagainst 11.65 euros since the 1is January 2024. Which corresponds to a Smic of 1,801.80 euros gross per month based on the legal working hours of 35 hours per week. Or approximately 1,426 euros net per month.
This 2% increase is anticipated by two monthsthe revaluation of the minimum wage usually taking place on 1is January of each year. The increase in the minimum wage takes into account the evolution of inflation observed for the 20% of households with the lowest income.
This advance revaluation was announced by Michel Barnier, Prime Minister, during his general policy declaration before the National Assembly on 1is last October.
Revaluation of 1.6% of the Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension
Agirc-Arrco supplementary retirement pensions increase by 1.6% from 1is November 2024. This revaluation was decided by agreement negotiated between the employer and union organizations which co-manage this pension plan.
The revaluation of basic retirement pensions of the general systemwhich usually occurs at 1is January, once a year, should be shifted to 1is July 2025. In fact, these pensions should be frozen for the first 6 months of 2025.
College and high school scholarships: extension of scholarship applications until November 15
Exceptionally, parents whose children are educated in public or private establishments or registered with the National Center for Distance Education (Cned) can submit a scholarship application until November 15, 2024 (instead of October 17 or 31 depending on the method of schooling). This extension is linked to the implementation of the new procedure for automatic study of the right to the scholarship, effective since the start of the 2024 school year.
College and high school scholarships are granted under conditions of means and according to the number of dependent children. The scholarship amounts vary according to levels (from €114 to €495 per year for the college scholarship and from €474 to €1,008 per year for the high school scholarship) and are paid in 3 installments (end of December, end of March and end of June) .

Natural gas prices: a slight drop on 1is November 2024
The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) publishes each month a benchmark sale price of natural gas for residential consumers. This is the baseline for pricing energy suppliers.
For November 2024, the average price per kilowatt hour of gas for heating use increases to €0.10932 per kWh compared to €0.11062 on 1is october. The average price of gas used for cooking and hot water increases to €0.13830 per kWh compared to €0.13960 per kWh the previous month.
The average benchmark sale price of natural gas is communicated for information purposes only. Made up of a subscription price and a price per kilowatt hour, it allows you to compare offers from energy suppliers since July 2023. As of 1is November, this average benchmark price is set at 135.9/MWH including tax (all gas consumption combined), compared to 137.20 €/MWh including tax on 1is October and €130.21/MWh including tax on 1is September 2024.
Winter break comes into effect
From Friday 1is November 2024 to Monday March 31, 2025, the winter break protects tenants from eviction from their accommodation, particularly in the event of unpaid rent. Gas and electricity cuts are also prohibited during this period.
However, there are exceptions authorizing expulsions during the winter break, including:
- squatters who occupy a home, garage, land, etc.;
- people who benefit from rehousing corresponding to their family needs;
- of the spouse, civil partner or partner who is violent towards the spouse or children, whose expulsion from the home has been ordered by the family affairs judge (JAF).
