“Our goal is to promote the history and heritage of the town of Coteau,” summarizes Jean-Baptiste Ciron, president of the structure since 2009. “Afterwards, we are not chauvinistic, we do visits to the former port of Varennes, it is in Roanne. »

The Coteau of Yesterday and Tomorrow sweeps through history through conferences, visits but also exhibitions. “We have one in the drawers on the 180th anniversary of the Coteau since it will fall next year. » The volunteers also take care of tracing the history of places in the Costellois city such as the streets, the buildings… “People ask us for details about their house”, cites as an example the president of an organization which has around forty of active members. He and his members can rely on a large library of photos and plans.
Created in 1980, the association is now based on rue des Écoles in an outdated and dilapidated premises. The town hall plans to install Le Coteau yesterday and tomorrow in the Coteau station building. The place will be redeveloped to accommodate two Costellois associations ( read our October 17 edition ): The Coteau of yesterday and tomorrow and Les Artistes costellois. “The station will really be a plus for us,” says Jean-Baptiste Ciron.
The move is planned for the end of 2025, once all the work is done inside the building.
While waiting for this step, Le Coteau d'hier et de tourisme hopes to attract local history enthusiasts with this conference scheduled for Friday, November 8.
Friday November 8 at 6 p.m. Conference “At the bedside of an old lady”, at the Maison des société, rue de la Glacière. During the conference, the people who marked this achievement will be discussed, without forgetting the architecture and specific points of this monument, as well as the other places of worship existing or having existed: the Chapel of Providence and that of the Plains. Jean-Baptiste Ciron will be the master of this conference, surrounded by Xavier Pilonchéry and Élisabeth Blanc-Bernard who will speak on the method of financing and the renovation work.
