World Boxing is gaining ground. The new international boxing body, launched in April 2023 as an alternative to the IBA, announces that it has integrated seven new national federations. They come from Andorra, Belgium, Iraq, Lithuania, Madagascar, Kyrgyzstan and Thailand. With these new recruits, World Bowing now has 51 member countries. Madagascar is the third African nation to join, after Nigeria and Algeria. Iraq is the first Arab country to become a member. The addition of the Thai Boxing Association could bring others to the Asian continent, with its president, Pichai Chunhavajira, also heading the Asian Boxing Confederation. The body recalls that the announcement of the seven new members comes the same week in which it organizes its first world championships, reserved for young boxers (under 19 years old). They have been held since October 26 (until November 2) at the Pueblo Convention Center, in Colorado (United States). The competition will be followed on Sunday, November 3, by the second annual World Boxing Congress.
