The Mohammed VI Foundation celebrates World Oceans Day

For World Oceans Day celebrated worldwide every June 8, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, chaired by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, is setting up a whole week of activities with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of the ocean.

Ocean Week is a major initiative focused on highlighting and exploring the riches of the ocean across the Kingdom, which the Foundation will lead in collaboration with its partners, from Monday June 3 to Saturday June 8 2024 in 11 cities on the Moroccan coast, from Al Hoceïma to Dakhla. This will highlight key sectors such as the blue economy, the circular economy and marine science and technology.

This week is part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to the global framework of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. The program primarily targets the educational communities of the Eco-Schools and Young Reporters for the Environment programs, two emblematic sustainable development education initiatives led by the Foundation. In addition, it will make these activity programs available in one of the 8 coastal regions to more than 500 young people. This year, Ocean Week will offer for the first time an opportunity to get to know the underwater heritage of the Kingdom.

Furthermore, on June 7 and 8, the Hassan II International Environmental Training Center will organize an exhibition on its premises on the recovery of plastic waste under the slogan “كلشي إلا نلوحو فالبحر”. Note that this summer, she will carry out the 5th edition of her b7arblaplastic operation.
