In Noville, the drilling site will resume service. 15 years after its creation, a new geothermal resources research project will be launched next month.
The Noville drilling site will return to service 15 years after its creation. A new project in the form of geothermal resource research is on track. The canton of Vaud issued a permit last July which covers work between November 2024 and January 2025. As a reminder, this drilling project was launched in 2009 and made it possible to find natural gas 3,200 meters under Lake Geneva. But a moratorium from the Grand Council in 2018 prohibiting the exploitation of its resources had buried the project.
Details from the trustee of Noville, Pierre-Alain Karlen.
The borehole cavity has been preserved by Petrosvibri, the company that operates the site. Operations will therefore resume even if it is a completely different process from 15 years ago. We find Pierre-Alain Karlen.
Research will begin next month and is expected to continue until January 2025.
