Four corpses of wild boars were found on Grandville beach, in Hillion (Côtes-d'Armor), Wednesday October 30, 2024. It was a walker who raised the alarm, in the morning, after first having saw three corpses. A fourth was eventually also found on site. “Including one who had obviously been there for some time”, indicates the mayor of Hillion, Annie Guennou.
According to the councilor, the bodies were removed by agents of the French Biodiversity Office during the day and analyzes are underway to determine the origin of the death. The police were also on site.
A beach particularly exposed to green algae
Grandville beach is particularly exposed to deposits of green algae. At the end of the season, algae is still present with collections initiated one to three times per week by the Agglomeration of Saint-Brieuc.
The last death of a wild boar on Grandville beach dates back to October 2023. According to the autopsy, the animal died of “infectious cause” .

More recently, on September 3, 2024, a wild boar was found dead on Saint-Maurice beach, in Morieux, delegated commune of Lamballe-Armor. A beach also polluted by green algae. But the results of the autopsy carried out on this animal, in order to determine the presence or absence of hydrogen sulphide in the blood, have not been communicated.
