The main suspects in the murder of Philippinea 19-year-old student whose body was found in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris in September, has agreed to be extradited to France, her lawyer announced on BFMTV on Tuesday. Taha O., 22 ansarrested in Switzerland, initially refused extradition by “simplified” procedure.
“My client has decided to accept extradition to be referred to French judges and to express his views on the case (…). The Swiss authorities will organize the transfer of the detainee from Switzerland to France“, declared Me Florence Yersin, specifying that the deadline will be “a few days.”
France had filed an extradition request against Taha O., a 22-year-old Moroccan arrested on September 24 at Geneva’s main station, and the main suspect in the murder of Philippine, whose body was found three days earlier buried in the Bois de Boulogne. The murder had caused immense emotion in France, but also a virulent public debate, the suspect having already been convicted of rape, then released in June 2024. Registered in the file of wanted persons the day before the murder for having failed to comply with his house arrest , he was under an obligation to leave the territory (OQTF).
