The Ryzen 9000X3D launched at the same time as the Intel Arrow Lake-S?

While the launch of the Ryzen 9000 is only a matter of hours, it could be that AMD decides to also bring forward the arrival of the 9000X3D. Until then, the expected schedule for the Ryzen 9000X3D brought us to January 2025, during CES. The most well-argued leak comes from MLID which therefore defends that the X3D versions of the new Ryzen will be launched at the same time as the arrival of the new Intel processors.

What to expect from the Ryzen 9000X3D?

The future AMD Ryzen 9000X3D processors, which would therefore be expected for the third quarter of 2024, are an evolution of the current range, using the Zen 5 architecture under the code name Granite Ridge. Like the previous generation, they will be boosted by a significant amount of cache. This is thanks to the use of AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, which layers additional cache directly on the processor die. This technology has been shown to significantly improve performance in games and applications by reducing memory latency. To counter Intel, in the series of rumors announced, these X3D processors like the others, will retain the same price positioning as the current range.

On the Intel side, the game promises to be tense because the Blues are expected around the corner. The Arrow Lake-S represent an attempt to regain technological leadership with innovations in engraving and hybrid architecture, aimed at providing energy efficiency and increased performance. Doubts are still there regarding the potential of these newcomers. A persistent rumor announces the absence of hyperthreading… But a high-end configuration in 24 Cores (16 + 8). Another important contrast with gen 14, consumption is expected to drop significantly, particularly in PL2 and PL4 modes. In PL1 we would be capped at 125 watts, on the other hand in PL2 we would be limited to 177 watts. Finally, in PL4 we would go from 420 to 333 watts. Knowing that Intel has maintained its lead in terms of frequency by releasing (with quite a few consequences) power and consumption, the confrontation of the two giants will be particularly interesting to follow.
