Marion Rousse: crossing the desert for Julian Alaphilippe, fortunately their son was there

It is in 2020 that the couple of Marion Rousse and Julian Alaphilippe was formed. Very quickly, the sports journalist and the cyclist decided to form a family, and gave birth to little Nino, in 2021. In 2022, several adventures have damaged the cyclist, but also his couple. The athlete had severe bronchitis in March, had a serious fall in April in a ravine at more than 70 km/h and had Covid in July.

An accumulation of things that disturbed the cyclist, and his mind. He even had to abandon his participation in the Tour de France, which was a big blow for him. His wife, Marion Rousse, was just as affected. This is what she delivered to La Tribune du Dimanche, published this Sunday, June 2.

These trials which put the couple at risk

It was all these ordeals that took a toll on the couple. Julian and Marion had to go through this together, but the conditions were difficult. Which meant that it took time for the cyclist to recover, and that didn’t help, as Marion Rousse explained.

She indeed delivered to La Tribune du Dimanche, in all sincerity: It is true that it took time to bounce back. He couldn’t show what he was capable of because he was stopped in his tracks by falls.” she first declared, ensuring that she had been “just as affected as him”. The journalist in fact shared her companion’s sorrows, just as she was accustomed to sharing his joys. The couple was very united, but it was nevertheless very complicated.

Marion Rousse “Nino, our little boy, helped us a lot”

The journalist was very present for her companion, and tried to help him as best she could, to accompany him, to encourage him. But after a while, she struggled to know what to say, and didn’t know how she could help him move forward.

She explained: “I tried to reassure him, to comfort him, but after two years I could no longer find the right words.” The journalist then revealed how their little Nino was a precious help to their relationship, and gave them the strength to get through this ordeal: “I think that Nino, our little boy, helped us a lot to get through this bad time,”she declared.
