Parcoursup results: the reactions of the candidates, a day between stress and relief

After long months of stress, since May 30 a little before 7 p.m., high school students can find out which wishes were accepted, refused or those on the waiting list. The main admission phase has just started and will last until the start of the complementary phase on June 11.

The figures for 2023 are intended to be reassuring: 93.5% of candidates received at least one admission offer and 76% were satisfied. But on D-day for the 2024 candidates, the reactions are diverse and the stress common to all: when the results arrived, the high school students expressed their joy or, on the contrary, their sadness in the face of refused wishes or positions on a waiting list which does not bode well. Here are the reactions we collected following our call for testimonials (44% of Internet users who responded to us received at least one admission offer, 29% are disappointed and 17% happy).

“The later it is… the more stress we have”

If the ministry had set up a training platform for answers to the main admission phase this year, the opening of the platform at 7 p.m. annoyed more than one. “The later it is in the day, the more we wait and the more stress we have”, explains Lucie, 17 years old in final year: “There is a fixed time, and the platform will have to deal with all the connections at the same time . If it was put on early in the morning, some would sleep in and be able to watch a little later. »

The young woman who asked for a “BUT Book Professions as a first wish and an LEA English and Spanish license as a second” was “not particularly confident”. “At the beginning I didn’t feel too stressed, I even said that it was the least of my worries but the more the moment arrives, the more I worry about the results because it still affects my future and that’s not nothing », continues Lucie who admits to having been lucky to be accompanied by her main teacher and her other teachers.

Louna also felt the stress increasing throughout the day, more than last year. And for good reason, in the first year of BL prep in Marseille, the young woman from Brittany passed her baccalaureate last year with honors, but wants to reorient herself, after “an eventful year because of prep”: “I had applied for different licenses, mainly in history like Toulouse or Lyon, but with Spanish courses in these two cities. I also applied for a law degree in Strasbourg with an international background from the University of Madrid. I’m afraid of another failure. » Having validated ECTS credits with her year in hypokhâgne, she will have whatever happens “automatically access to the Aix history license”.

“I mainly expected to have wishes pending or denied”

Lucie, got her first choice, it will be a BUT Book Professions. In total, she will have had six wishes accepted, four refused and three pending. Romain is very satisfied. “I got the training I wanted!” » the young man rejoiced.

For Venus too, the results are positive. “I mainly expected to have pending or refused wishes, because I have seen in the past that many students who had an excellent record were refused from the courses they wanted. And given that I have a record that averages around 14, I didn’t necessarily expect positive results. But in the end I had two wishes accepted, one refused and the other seven are pending! » If the eco-management license which accepted it is a bit of a default choice, the other is not.

Louna, for her part, is less happy with the proposals made to her, since she was refused the license in Strasbourg, “all the preparations and on the waiting list for everything else”: “I think I have the bilingual license of Toulouse but this is surely the only wish that will be accepted unfortunately…”

Next step for candidates, for each wish: accept or refuse the proposal, or remain on the waiting list. Final admissions are conditional on the results of the baccalaureate on July 8! The final written and grand oral exams will take place from June 18.
