The death toll from the Russian strike on a DIY hypermarket in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, continues to rise, reaching sixteen deaths on Sunday the day after this attack described as “despicable” by the Ukrainian president. “Unfortunately, sixteen deaths have already been recorded,” said Kharkiv region governor Oleg Synegubov. A previous report communicated by the Ukrainian Minister of the Interior, Igor Klymenko, also reported 43 injured and sixteen missing. “Russia is governed by people who want it to be the norm to burn lives, destroy cities and villages, divide people and erase national borders through war,” the Ukrainian president denounced on Sunday Volodymyr Zelensky.

Russian army announces capture of new village in eastern Ukraine

Russia claimed Sunday the capture of a new village in eastern Ukraine, continuing its slow push in this sector of the front where most of the fighting is taking place despite another Russian offensive in the Northeast. “Units of the Western troop grouping liberated the town of Berestové (…) as a result of successful combat operations,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in its daily report.

This locality is located on the edge between the Kharkiv and Lugansk regions, southeast of the city of Kupiansk, one of the Russian objectives in this sector. Yesterday, Russian troops claimed the capture of the village of Arkhangelské, also in the east.

New toll shows 12 dead and 43 injured in Kharkiv

12 people were killed and 43 injured in the attack, according to a new report communicated by Interior Minister Igor Klymenko. In addition, 16 people are missing, Klymenko added. A previous report reported eleven deaths.
