The Israeli army claims to have discovered a bunker “filled with gold and banknotes” belonging to former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah under al-Sahel hospitalin the Dahiyeh district of Beirut.
MP Fadi Alameh, director of the Sahel General Hospital, denied the existence of tunnels under the hospital and said the medical center was being evacuated.
The director calls on the Lebanese army and other institutions to visit the area to verify these allegations for themselves.
Fadi Alameh told local Al-Jadeed TV channel that the Sahel General Hospital is a private medical center that has underground operating rooms. He added that the hospital had been present in the area for 42 years and was not linked to any political group.
Israel targets Hezbollah's funding sources
The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Daniel Hagari also accuses Iran of sending “Suitcases of gold and tickets flown to the Iranian embassy in Beirut” before they “are not transferred directly to Hezbollah”.
He also claims that Israeli strikes killed key Hezbollah leaders responsible for transferring money between Iran and the Lebanese militant group.
In recent days, Israeli Defense Forces hit several offices of a Hezbollah-linked financial institution, Al-Qard al-Hasan, but Daniel Hagari assured that Israeli forces would not hit al-Sahel Hospital.
The Israeli military said Monday it would continue its strikes against the banking company it says uses its customers' deposits to finance attacks against Israel.
One of the strikes destroyed a nine-story building in Beirut, in which Al-Qard-al-Hassan offices were located. The Israeli military issued evacuation warnings before the strikes and no casualties were reported.
At the same time, the Lebanese Ministry of Health stated thatairstrike near Beirut's Rafik Hariri University Hospital killed four people, including a child, and injured 24 others. The establishment is considered the largest public hospital in Lebanon.
Hezbollah fires rockets into central Israel
As Israel intensifies its strikes in Lebanon and Israeli troops continue to advance in the south of the country, Hezbollah has also fired new rockets into Israeli territory.
The group launched a barrage of rockets hit central Israel on Tuesday, in the country's most populated areas, but no injuries or major damage were reported.
The Israeli military said five projectiles were fired from Lebanon toward Israel and most of them were intercepted by its missile defense system.
The Israeli army adds that at the same time, around fifteen projectiles were fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel.
