(UPDATE/LATEST HOUR) The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is still asking for help from the population to find Laval resident Yacine Zouaoui, 32, wanted for escape from legal custody.

On Thursday, May 23, during the count around 10:45 p.m., staff from the minimum security unit of the Federal Training Center discovered that Yacine Zouaoui was missing.

The latter would therefore have escaped from the Federal Training Center, a minimum security detention establishment on Montée Saint-François.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Laval Police Department and the Sûreté du Québec and an arrest warrant was issued against the inmate.

The latter is currently serving an indeterminate sentence for assault causing bodily harm and second degree murder.

Description

Yacine Zouaoui is a dark-skinned man who speaks English.

He is 1.85 meters (6 feet 1 inch) tall and weighs around 84 kilograms (186 pounds). He has brown eyes and brown hair.

He also has visible tattoos including a teardrop under his left eye as well as a three-dot tattoo on his left hand.

The last time he was seen, Yacine Zouaoui was wearing a light-colored top, jeans pants and he had black sneakers on his feet.

He would travel on foot, but could try to request transport.

Information

Anyone who sees Yacine Zouaoui is asked to contact 911 and not attempt to approach her.

In addition, any information that could help find Yacine Zouaoui can be communicated, confidentially, to the Criminal Information Center of the Sûreté du Québec at 1 800 659-4264.

CSC will investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and will continue to work closely with the police service to locate the offender as quickly as possible.
