The residents of Limony (Ardèche) are still in shock after the floods which devastated the village, washing away everything in their path. Since yesterday, the water has given way to mud and a feeling of despondency has invaded the inhabitants of the village.
On the main road to Limony, scenes of desolation multiply with considerable damage, and the work to come seems colossal. A resident, on the scene for the first time since the flood 48 hours ago, is still in shock. The water has spared nothing, and he feels a little lost. Among the other victims, some saw the water and mud rise to the ceiling of their homes, making any evacuation impossible because the floors were waterlogged. “It was the firefighters who came to get us through the window”testifies a resident still in shock.
At the origin of the disaster, a watercourse and a bridge: on a video, it is possible to see torrents of water and mud violently overflowing from the river bed. The next day, near the bridge, trunks and branches had accumulated, and there were still many to clear.
In addition to firefighters and the Red Cross, some residents came to help other victims having difficulty accessing their homes due to the accumulation of mud. Currently in Limony, several dozen houses are uninhabitable due to the flood.
