The fire was particularly severe when emergency services arrived and destroyed both parts of the building. No less than seven fire hoses were used by firefighters to control the flames. Their intervention lasted all night and they were still hard at work Saturday morning to cool the blaze. At the height of the intervention, more than 57 firefighters and around twenty vehicles were mobilized.

“It was a very impressive fire but it was able to be contained thanks to the action of the firefighters,” says the mayor of Monts-Ronds, Didier Laithier, who was called to the scene during the night. Saturday morning, the president of the Bonnefoy group, also present on site during the night from Friday to Saturday, took stock of the situation: “The priority is securing the site,” explains Frédéric Bonnefoy, who indicates technical unemployment measures could affect a dozen people. “We will continue our waste collection activity for our customers. On the other hand, sorting will have to be subcontracted for a period of unknown duration. We will be forced to divert our waste to another sorting center in the region. »
