Major climatic events caused multiple outings of firefighters from the Eure-et-Loir Departmental Fire and Rescue Service this Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Since the beginning of the afternoon, in fact, torrential rain fell on the entire department causing rapid rises in water.

Many firefighters mobilized

SDIS 28 triggered interventions mobilizing numerous firefighters, notably from the emergency centers of Chartres, Digny, Châteauneuf-en-Thymerais and Brezolles. At 3:30 p.m., in addition to personnel, seven rescue vehicles were engaged in reconnaissance operations.

At 6:20 p.m., the SDIS took stock of all these outings, adding that the emergency centers of Anet, Pontgouin, Lucé, Aunay-sous-Crécy and even Dreux.

A school group evacuated

The firefighters particularly mention a heavy intervention in the Thimert-Gâtelles sector where they had to evacuate a school group with 177 children and 17 adults who were directed to the town hall.

The RD23 in this same sector of Thimert-Gâtelles was diverted due to flooding, the RD 939 was marked.

Be careful on the roads, do not drive onto a flooded road.
