TotalEnergies will boost its activities with the discovery of a new oil well

The investments of the TotalEnergies Congo company were at the center of the meeting, on May 19, in Oyo in the Cuvette department, between President Denis Sassou N’Guesso, and the CEO of TotalEnergies, Patrick Pouyanné.

TotalEnergies has good prospects this year, according to Patrick Pouyanné, with the discovery of a new oil well. “I wanted to meet the President of the Republic, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, to announce to him that the two drilling rigs arrived this month in Congo. A device will drill an oil well which is expected on the Marine XX permit. This is a good prospect, we hope to be able to come back in four months to announce a nice discovery in Congo,” he said.

The CEO of TotalEnergie indicated that his company will continue to invest in Congo like this year where it plans to invest 600 million dollars in 2024 (361 billion FCFA), not only for exploration, but also to maintain production of the giant field of Moho-North. “TotalEnergies continues to be very active in Congo and I wanted to share this news with President Denis Sassou N’Guesso,” said Patrick Pouyanné.

Concerning the Marine XX permit which is full of liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons, the oil field is located very deep offshore. This exploration area extends over an area of 32,85.8 km2 for a water depth estimated at 2000 m. The exploration permit should be awarded to the Société nationale des petroleums du Congo, while the conduct of oil operations would be entrusted to TotalEnergies.

A long-standing partner of the Republic of Congo, TotalEnergies is committed to continuing the momentum of its portfolio, favoring low-cost, low-emission assets to leverage its expertise in deep offshore.
