Lee Carsley had made a strong impression during his first outings with the A, in Ireland (0-2, September 7) and against Finland (2-0, 10), but the defeat against Greece at Wembley (1-2), caused in part by the ineffective game plan concocted by the technician, and his clumsy communication suggesting that he did not wish to remain at the head of the Three Lions, put an end to the adventure.
