Traveling to the Paris Motor Show, the president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, told the press that his party “will not vote on the government budget”. The RN has meanwhile presented a counter-project of 25 billion in gross savings.
The opposition: 1, Barnier: 0. A few hours before the parliamentary committee’s examination of the 2025 budget, the president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, assured that his party would not “will not vote” in favor of the budget proposed by the Barnier government. Traveling to the Paris Motor Show this Wednesday, October 16, the RN deputy affirmed his disagreement with the government’s proposals. According to the person concerned, “this budget is not a breakthrough budget” but “a budget which picks the pockets of working France”, accusing the proposals of Michel Barnier and his government.
However, Jordan Bardella recalled in front of the cameras that before voting, there would be time for the RN to “have as many measures as possible adopted”. The president of the extremist party also urged: “There are no structural reforms in this budget.”
The RN counter-budget
Earlier today, the RN proposed a counter-budget through Jean-Philippe Tanguy. According to the deputy for the Somme, it is “a disruptive counter-budget with 25 billion in gross savings” (i.e. 15 billion net).
With this proposal, the extremist party intends to act by canceling “unfair and ineffective measures” such as the partial deindexation of basic Social Security pensions or even a reduction in VAT on energy and basic necessities, as revealed by BFMTV.
After its statements, the RN joined the NFP deputies in the camp of parties disagreeing with the budget. As a reminder, more than 1,700 amendments have been tabled and the parliamentary discussions which begin today could extend until December 21.
