what we know about the carjacking attempt suffered by Moumbagna and Onana

The two OM players, Faris Moumbagna and Jean Onana, were victims of an attempted armed robbery of their respective vehicles, during the night from Sunday to Monday near the Commanderie after the team’s return from Le Havre.

We know a little more about the circumstances of the attack suffered by the two OM players Faris Moumbagna (23 years old) and Jean Onana (24 years old). And the first elements collected suggest that the Cameroonian internationals escaped the worst during this violent carjacking attempt, a few moments after their departure from the Commanderie.

The two players accelerated to escape the ambush, Meïté spared

The events took place precisely in the eastern districts of Marseille, namely near the OM training grounds, while the players concerned had just collected their car from the Robert-Louis-Dreyfus center and were preparing to return their home, in the night, on their return from Le Havre (1-2), where Marseille had won a few hours earlier at the end of the 34th and final day of L1.

An investigation is open to determine the circumstances of this attempted armed car theft. For the moment we do not know how many individuals (who fled) attempted to attack the vehicles of Jean Onana and Faris Moumbagna. The two players were clearly targeted for their personal vehicle, which received bullet holes. They managed to accelerate and escape from this ambush. Bamo Meïté, who was in a club vehicle, followed them closely but was not targeted.

The players are fortunately in good health but are nevertheless extremely shocked, as is the club which is in constant contact with all its players but also with the competent authorities. The ongoing investigation encourages OM not to communicate and to wait to learn more about the circumstances of this attempted car theft.

This type of car-jacking or home-jacking targeting footballers or personalities is unfortunately common but the fact that shots hit the vehicle of two players could have made this news story dramatic, hence the astonishment that gripped us last night. and this morning relatives of the players and the entire Olympian club.
