In a long interview with the newspaper l’Equipe, Raphaël Varane spoke about the formation of Real Madrid. For the former French defender, each club should take an example from the Merengue.
Raphaël Varane joined Real Madrid in 2011, at the age of 18 and after just one professional season. But this choice, a priori risky, turned out to be profitable for the Frenchman, who won many glorious trophies with the Merengue club.
While he recently announced his retirement from the world of football, the 2018 world champion gave an interview to the newspaper l’Equipein which he explains the secrets of the formation of Real Madrid.
“I did everything a little faster than everyone else. I was lucky to arrive at a club which gives young people time to learn the very high level and to reach physical maturity. “They have done for years, with me, (Federico) Valverde, Vinicius or Rodrygo, it is exceptional. All the big clubs should copy Real. The club extends the training, while elsewhere, the young people start more. earlier and burn out earlier and earlier” he says to the Team.

“When I get there, I shut my mouth and learn to do what it takes to perform. I’m a sponge, I listen, I reproduce. It took me years to demonstrate that I could be a high-level defender without being an old-fashioned, intimidating defender I was in another register, a big one who was going fast: when I started, there weren’t five. “It’s more common. We had to prove it, and assert it at the highest level. It’s an aspect of my game that took time to be valued in the French team.” he adds.
Now retired, after signing for Como last summer, Rapahël Varane felt that it was “a difficult decision, but the right decision.”
