In a press release, the Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office announced that a lifeless body was found in a wooded and isolated area in the Nevers region. This is Lina’s body, as genetic analyzes have confirmed.
Tragic. The body of Lina, a 15-year-old teenager missing since September 23, 2023 in Bas-Rhin, was found this Wednesday, October 16 in a wooded and isolated area in the Nevers region, in the Nièvre department, said the Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office.
The body of the teenager “was immersed in a watercourse located below an embankment,” added the public prosecutor, specifying that “the Ford Puma vehicle used by Samuel Gonin had been geolocated at this location on September 24 , the day after Lina’s disappearance.
It was mainly the genetic analyzes carried out urgently by the IRCGN which made it possible to confirm that it was the body of the teenager.
“Medico-legal assessments will be ordered by the investigating magistrates to investigate the cause of death,” explained acting public prosecutor Alexandre Chevrier.
As a reminder, during a press conference organized on Thursday September 19, 2024, the public prosecutor revealed that belongings belonging to Lina were found in a handbag in the glove box of Samuel Gonin’s vehicle.
Among these items were a mirror, false eyelashes, the phone case and Lina’s headphones. The victim’s phone had not been found. Above all, the public prosecutor had indicated that in the trunk of the car there were “two ropes”. On one of them, investigators had identified the genetic profile of the teenager and that of Samuel Gonin.
