– The scene took place on Tuesday October 15, around 5:45 p.m., at the start of Boulevard Malesherbes very close to Place de la Madeleine, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. According to the accounts given by News17, The Parisian and BFMTV, an altercation broke out between two people, after an SUV cut off the path of a cyclist traveling in a cycle lane, before he fell to the ground. According to testimonies, the latter then hit the hood of the vehicle.

It was at this moment, when the tone had risen between the two men, that the driver of the SUV drove off again, hitting the cyclist who had gotten up, before running over him.

During rush hour

Despite cardiac massage from passers-by and the rapid arrival of help, the 27-year-old cyclist died. The driver of the vehicle, aged 52, was arrested at the scene, while his daughter was present in the SUV at the time they took place.

“It was a bloodbath”told the Parisian a witness, while many people witnessed the scene during rush hour, when returning from offices in the center of the capital. “The witnesses were sitting on the sidewalk, shocked… It was so violent”for his part testified to the Parisian the mayor of the 8th arrondissement Jeanne d’Hauteserre, who went to the scene of the tragedy in the evening as did the duty magistrate of the Paris public prosecutor’s office.

Contacted by BFMTV, the Paris prosecutor’s office indicated that “the terms of the investigation are currently being evaluated and will be clarified later”.
