A conflict between a cyclist and a driver tragically evolved this Tuesday late afternoon in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. At the wheel of his SUV, the 52-year-old driver restarted his vehicle, crushing the 27-year-old cyclist. The victim died on the spot.
The incident occurred on Boulevard Malesherbesaround 5:45 p.m. According to the first elements reported by Actu17, the driver of the SUV changed lanes, thus cutting off the path of the cyclist, who, in reaction, would have hit the hood of the vehicle. This altercation would have caused a rise in tensions between the two menleading the motorist to restart and run over the young man.
Witnesses quickly tried to help the victim by giving him cardiac massage, before firefighters arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, their efforts were unable to save the cyclist. The driver, arrested on the spotwas in the company of his daughter at the time of the events. The police are currently perpetuating the findings, and an investigation has been opened.
