The suspect in the murder of Daphnée Jolivet was allegedly involved in the riot which broke out at the Le Gouvernail Youth Center, where he is being held preventively during the legal proceedings. His case was also increased by five new charges.

The 16-year-old teenager played an important role in the excesses that occurred on Sunday according to information first reported by Le Soleil. Remember that a riot broke out around 8:30 p.m. within the walls of the youth center, leading to the arrest of around ten young people involved.
The electric pulse gun was necessary to control two of the teenagers and the agents also had to use pepper spray to put an end to the excesses. Responders suffered minor injuries in the event.

The alleged murderer of Daphnée Jolivet has officially been indicted for his alleged involvement in the weekend event. The identity of the young offender is being protected due to his age.
The teenager faces charges of having taken part in a riot, assault against peace officers, obstructing the work of police officers and two counts of assault causing injury to those involved in the center.
The event caused damage to the facility, including broken windows, emptied fire extinguishers, and a water spill due to a damaged pipe
This is not the first stain on his file since the start of his preventive detention at Gouvernail. Last spring, while he was being transferred by vehicle for an appointment at a child psychiatry center, the young man fled after allegedly threatening the workers who accompanied him.
He was arrested a few moments later by police officers called for assistance.
Lourdes accusations
The teenager faces the most serious charge in the criminal code in connection with the violent death of Daphnée Jolivet, which occurred on October 26, 2023. The 19-year-old young woman was allegedly stabbed to death.

The suspect also faces one count of sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, vehicle theft and impaired driving.
His cases are due back in youth court in December.
