CRITICAL – In competition, the film by Romanian director Emanuel Parvu recounts the banal story of an attack and its consequences with finesse.

They didn’t miss that. Adrian has a broken nose, bloody face, bruises everywhere. He was attacked after a night at a nightclub. It was the only time during the vacation that he had set foot there. It’s really bad luck. This is what it means to be a good son, to spend every summer in his native village nestled in the Danube delta, a river which, we will verify, is not so blue. Plus, his phone was stolen. Of course, he found it. Small consolation.

The parents are desperate. They no longer understand. What happened? No, he didn’t see those who beat him. He also didn’t tell them that he was with a passing tourist who left for the capital. Adi walled himself in stubborn silence. In the family house with blue shutters, screams echo. Around, tongues are loosened. It doesn’t take long for the reality to dawn on us.
