The gendarmes met the two freed hostages. |
After a month of captivity, two peasants from the Tsaratanàna district found freedom in the commune of Marotsipoy in Anjozorobe. Another hostage is said to have died.
On Saturday, the rural commune of Marotsipoy, in the district of Anjozorobe, was the scene of a long-awaited liberation, but tinged with sadness. Two hostages, a 17-year-old girl and a man aged around 27, were released after a month of detention by kidnappers. Unfortunately, their companion in misfortune, aged 52, lost her life during this ordeal.
All three were kidnapped on September 12 in Mahamavo, in the commune of Ambakireny, in the district of Tsaratanàna. According to a gendarme report, the release of two of them took place around 2 a.m., at a place called Antsahabe, after the payment of a ransom, the amount of which the family does not want to disclose.
Concerning the deceased, her family confirmed that she had suffered from a health problem for a long time. The kidnappers told the two surviving hostages that they did not know where they left his lifeless body. Which therefore leaves a worrying vagueness about the true circumstances and the exact cause of the death of the fifty-year-old.
Transaction
The other two, although unharmed, reported that they were separated on the first night of their abduction. Each was led in a different direction. They only met again during the transaction for their release. This demonstrates the methods of concealment used by their captors.
The exchange took place in secret, in the absence of the Defense and Security Forces, who were only notified at 6 a.m. this Saturday.
The gendarmes opened an investigation to identify and capture the perpetrators and accomplices of this heinous act. Patrols were launched to cordon off the area between Brieville and Antsahabe, in the hope of finding the remains and possibly gathering clues about the criminals.
