The four passengers perished in the flames

It was on the D948 that the driver of the Tesla electric car lost control, hitting the shoulder and then ending his race in a traffic sign. The shock was so violent that the installation was severed before the vehicle caught fire, several meters away.

When the firefighters arrived, alerted by a motorist who was taking the same road, the four occupants were already dead. and perished in the flames as stated in Western Mail.

However, we do not know the reasons for this fire. Was the fire caused by the Tesla or by the impact with the panel? The investigation was opened so that the authorities could shed light on this tragedy.

Victims aged 16 to 65

The driver, from Niort, was 65 years old. The passengers were all men aged 16, 21 and 26 who worked in a restaurant in Melle as reported by the gendarmerie. The owner of the Tesla, a regular, offered to drop them off at their home.

Experts will conduct autopsies this week to identify the presence drugs or alcohol in the bodies of the victims when the events took place.

Fires breaking out during car accidents are not rare, it is not said that a malfunction of the Tesla is responsible for this tragedy. We will therefore have to wait the conclusions of the investigation, as always. Fortunately, sometimes fires don’t end so tragically. In Greece, a Tesla caught fire but no casualties. The causes of the incident? A problem with the charge according to investigators.
