Next Sunday, May 19, Young farmers from Eure (JA27) had to organize their annual celebration in Montreuil-l’Argillé (Eure).

During this day, a thirty people from the agricultural world were to exhibit their agricultural equipment and machinery, including tractors from the 1970s to the present day, and provide the public with explanations about their profession.

The party canceled a few days before

Several activities for children and adults were to take place, such as a raffle or tractor rides. This moment was to allow the exchanges between farmers and their neighbors.

This Tuesday, May 14, 2024, a few days before, the organizers announced on their Facebook page, Young Farmers of the Pays d’Ouche, that the event was canceled.

Cancellation after death

This follows the death of a young farmer on Monday May 13 in Verneusses, near Broglie, crushed by agricultural machinery. Contacted by us, the president of the Young Farmers of Eure, Romain Loiseauagreed to say more.

“The event was located a few kilometers from the scene of the tragedy, with mainly people close to the victim. Out of respect for loved ones and familyit was out of the question to maintain a festive moment so close geographically and in date of death. The agricultural community in general is saddened, in mourning, the canton, the young people, friends and colleagues of the victim,” he explains.

See you in 2025 for the next one.
