Olympique Lyonnais expresses its anger at the successive refusals of the LFP to adjust its calendar to November.
L’Olympique Lyonnais is going through a delicate period, accentuated by a busy schedule. In this month of November, the club has to face a series of crucial matches with short intervals. At the top of the agenda is the trip to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag in the Europa League. This meeting is followed, barely 48 hours after their return, by a match against Nice at Groupama Stadium.
A request for postponement refused by the LFP
In order to optimize the team's preparation, the club submitted an official request to the LFP to postpone the match against Nice. Initially scheduled for December 1 at 5 p.m., this request aimed to postpone the match to Tuesday December 3. This will allow players to recover after a 7-hour flight from Baku. Unfortunately, the LFP quickly declined this proposal.
A second attempt to obtain accommodation
Following this first refusal, OL made a new request. To keep the match on December 1, but at a later time of 8:45 p.m. However, this adjustment did not resonate with the LFP either. The latter gave priority to the broadcast of the OM-Monaco match, chosen as the main choice by DAZN.
One last proposal ignored by broadcasters
Faced with the first two failures, the Lyon leaders attempted a final proposal, hoping to play the match at 7 p.m.. Although beIN SPORTS showed an opening for such an adjustment, the broadcast slot reserved by DAZN definitively closed the discussion. OL's third request was therefore also rejected.
The successive refusals fueled deep frustration on the Gones side. The club of John Textor openly expresses his dissatisfaction with the LFP and the broadcasters. THE Progress reports a climate of exacerbated discontent within the club, where managers deplore the lack of flexibility for one of the key moments of the season.
