She is one of the fifteen new students of Star Academy. This Saturday, October 12, the public discovered Ebony. A Music enthusiast, originally from Île-Saint-Denis (Île-de-France) who has always been immersed in an artistic universe since a young age. “Music came into my life because my father is a singer. He passed on this passion for music to me since I was very little.” she confides in her portrait. And for good reason. His dad is none other than Thierry Cham, a Guadeloupean zouk singer famous for his 2000s hit, Ocean. If he is more discreet, in 2023, he reveals the title My lovein duet with Haitian singer Leika Paul.
“I played the guitar first, then I did the piano, I did music theory, then I sang, I listened to Rihanna, Diamonds in the sky, it blew me away.” continues Ebony. Determined to live from her passion and make her dream come true “to be a singer”, the budding artist loves “dress up, dance, be crazy, make jokes”. It’s in the title Happy by Pharell Williams, in a duet with Maylis, that Ebony entered the set. A rhythmic and colorful painting that ignited the audience.
“The Star Ac’ fell on me”
To France Bleu, this music enthusiast who promises “to give everything” at the castle, explains having stopped his studies to participate in Star Academy: “A year ago, I was studying musicology. (…) I managed to put money aside to attend a jazz music school. But ultimately, Star Academy ‘ fell on me so I left the jazz school, but for another school, even bigger!” Obstinately, she says: “You should know that I had registered for the two previous seasons, but I had not received a positive response… And this year, I did not try my luck again, but I was contacted on Instagram”.
A journey which is reminiscent of that of Masséo. The youngest of the class, the 18-year-old left the traditional school system two years ago to devote himself to his passions: singing, dancing, writing, composition, and learning the guitar. and piano. Since then, he has already released two singles entitled Loved by You et Never Gonna Give Upavailable on streaming platforms. Like Ebony, Masseo knows he has “still a lot to learn, to share”: “And Star Academy is a great opportunity to gain visibility”, he confided to our colleagues at France Bleu.
