One of the big issues in Soignies is the state of the roads. Roads not always in good condition, and infrastructure not always suitable. Whether it is People with Reduced Mobility, or gentle mobility.
This concerns in particular the entity’s cycle paths. Tracks not always sufficiently secure. 15 million euros have already been deployed during the last mandate. But the PS list, in the majority, this time wants to spend 30 million in the coming years.
And there are still good examples in Soignies: the Route des Carrières and the Rue de Neufvilles. Both roads have been recently renovated, with a beautiful, fairly wide pedestrian cycle path, for two reasons. First of all, the roads were considered dangerous, close to the quarries and many trucks were leaving them. But also, close to the Queen Fabiola Center. A center which accommodates people with disabilities, some of whom must take these two roads to get to their adapted workplace. “Before, the road was full of stones, there were potholes. I felt insecure” confides Jacky, a resident of the Reine Fabiola Center. “Thanks to the new facilities, I can move around with peace of mind.”
