The City of Dijon supports the French hostages held in Iran and is mobilizing alongside the support committees of Cécile Kohler, Jacques Paris, Louis Arnaud and Olivier.

May 7, 2024 marked a sad anniversary for two French citizens, Cécile Kohler, 39, and Jacques Paris, 70, who are entering their third year of detention in Iran. Recognized as state hostages by the Quai d’Orsay, their arrest is considered arbitrary and based on unfounded accusations. In this context, the city of Dijon is actively mobilizing to support these hostages, as well as Louis Arnaud, 36, and Olivier, also detained since 2022. A visual campaign has been launched with posters bearing the first names and portraits of these four French nationals, visible since May 10 when passing from Logis du Roy to City Hall. The initiative is accompanied by the poignant message: “Let us free our hostages in Iran”.

On November 17, 2023, during the Dijon Internationals and in the presence of former president François Hollande, François Rebsamen, mayor of Dijon and president of the metropolis, had already pleaded for the release of Louis Arnaud, native of Burgundy. “Louis Arnaud, naturally innocent, was brutally arrested on September 28, 2022, while he was traveling in Iran, on the Silk Road. He is a pacifist traveler, not a political activist,” underlined the president of Dijon Métropole.
