Thursday October 10, in the premises of the CMA Formation, the Federation of Bakers of Mayenne revealed the names of the three winners of the competition for the best croissant of Mayenne 2024. “ A good croissant should be nicely cooked with a golden color, a nice flakiness and a nice honeycomb inside. It must also be crispy, soft and of course taste ensuite », explains Arnaud Gautier, president of the jury and owner of the Veronika bakery-pastry shop in (Mayenne).

For this 2024 edition, there were 19 participants. “ The level was very high including 7 or even 8 candidates who were above ».

Kélian Gougeon, 23 years old? who has been working for a year and a half at the Maison du Pain in Laval, an establishment managed by Vanessa and Julien Lochin, has a smile: “ This isn’t my first competition, but it’s the first time I got first place. It’s satisfying, it rewards all the work.”

A “good sign” before the opening of his bakery

In second place comes Valentin Feiller from the Fernand workshops. He recognizes that “ This is a good and promising sign, because My partner and I are opening our first bakery on Tuesday October 15 in the Ferrié district. reveals the one who in 2021 won the same competition.

It is Frédéric Martin, pastry baker at Aux Délices Châtillonnais, in Châtillon-sur-Colmont, another regular at the competitions, who climbs to third place. “It’s a good year for me” smiles the one who won the competition for the best sandwich in the department in 2024.

The first two winners will participate in the regional competition for the best croissant which will take place in 2025.
