Gas: Sonatrach and Gazprom discuss possibilities to strengthen cooperation

On the sidelines of his participation in the International Gas Forum in Saint Petersburg, the CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, held a working meeting with the president of the Russian giant Gazprom, Alexei Miller.

The two presidents led a high-level meeting with the leaders of the two companies and discussed the current challenges facing the gas industry and future opportunities to strengthen and develop the partnership between Sonatrach and Gazprom.

The Sonatrach group and the Russian giant are working together on the development of the two fields discovered in the Oum El Assel area (around 140 kilometers southeast of the town of Hassi Messaoud) as well as the construction of a unit processing to produce significant quantities of condensate and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to be transported through the Sonatrach gas pipeline network from 2025.

Gazprom is looking for export alternatives following the blockade of gas supplies to its European customers and the closure of transit through Ukraine on January 1.

On Tuesday, the CEO of Sonatarch visited the stand of the Russian energy company Gazprom, the world’s largest producer of natural gas.

According to a Sonatrach press release, Rachid Hachchi learned about Gazprom’s innovative technologies in the gas industry value chain, particularly offshore gas exploration, production and transportation technologies.
