This Monday, very close to the Elysée, Prince Albert II received the Gold Medal from the Society for the Encouragement of Progress (SEP) at the Cercle de l’Union interalliée in front of around a hundred guests. It is the association’s highest distinction and has been awarded every year since 1908.
Prestigious names have received this medal since the creation of the association. This is the case of Louis Lépine in 1910, Louis Lumière in 1924, Léon Gaumont in 1930, Marcel Pagnol in 1961, or even Luc Ferry, Hélène Carrère d’Encausse and Thomas Pesquet, more recently.
« Prince Albert is very committed to the defense of the oceans and healthy and intelligent agriculture and we owe him a lot. Future generations will owe him a lot. MS is here to highlight these women and men who are doing something for humanity », declared the president of the association Jean-François Roubaud at the microphone of Monaco Info.
The Sovereign, for his part, said: very happy and very honored to receive this distinction », during his speech just after being decorated. “ Thank you for allowing me to join the list of winners who preceded me “, he added.
