will a third opus see the light of day?

Available since October 4 on Netflix, Platform 2 is already in the Top 10 films on the streaming site. But can fans expect a sequel? Certain details suggest yes!

Released in 2019, the film The Platform had the gift of intriguing millions of users. Five years after thrilling thriller fans, the feature film by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia was entitled to a sequel available from October 4, 2024.

For those who haven’t watched it yet, here is the synopsis of The Platform 2: “When a mysterious leader imposes his reign on the Platform, a new resident finds himself embroiled in the battle against this controversial method of combating the brutal food system. But when eating from the wrong plate becomes a condemnation to death, how far would you be willing to go to save your life?”

The Platform: is a third film possible?

If you had re-watched The Platform before watching the second film and you have difficulty following, that’s normal. Contrary to what the title suggests, this is not the sequel but a prequel since we see Goreng descending to the depths of the pit at the end of the film while being welcomed by Perempua.

SPOILER: Goreng is Perempua’s boyfriend and therefore the father of the boy she accidentally killed. Given that she welcomes him, the events predate those of the first film. As a result, it is very likely that a third opus will see the light of day and ultimately return following the events that occurred in the first film… Yes, it’s complicated.

What could La Plateforme 3 evoke?

The success is there and the viewers are returned by Platform 2. But as of yet, Netflix has not confirmed that a sequel has been ordered. We will therefore have to wait to find out if its position in the Top 10 ranking of films around the world will be enough to convince the streaming site.

In the meantime, several theories are possible. To begin with, the arrival of new characters alongside already known faces in order to get to the end of the story.
